The Canvas Project 3 RECEPTION

Each person interprets the same word differently. Some factors include native language, geographic location, age, and general view of the word.

We're creating a visual encyclopedia where each artist is asked to visually interpret three words that are assigned to them randomly and were submitted by the Art House community onto 4x4 inch canvases. A visual encyclopedia book will then be created that includes at least one canvas from each artist. An exhibition will be held at The Brooklyn Art Library on December 3rd, 2010.

The goal of this project is to create Volume 2 of the encyclopedia. The first volume was exhibited at the Hartsfeld-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, GA from July to September of 2009 as well as turned into the first volume of the book.

Brooklyn Art Library is located at

103A N 3rd St
Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY 11211

STUDIO Gallery presents

TINY
small pieces under $400
November 11-Dec 23rd
7th Anniversary Party Dec 5th 2-6pm

Good things do come in small packages! tiny, our annual show of small work, is your one-stop-spot to pick up a little something for your own collection, as well as a one-of-a-kind gift for that special someone. And you're supporting local artists at the same time!

We'll have hundreds of pieces up in the gallery, and we'll be adding new work every day. Over 140 local artists are participating, making it our biggest show yet. Everything is under 7" x 7" and under $400, with lots of pieces under $200. As an added bonus, this year's show includes a VIP section, where we'll be hanging some work that we just couldn't resist from some the gallery's most popular artists, plus a few special surprises.

The show is so big that we're going to be closed an extra day to hang all the work. And we'll have two receptions, one in November and a second in December, to celebrate tiny and the gallery's 7th Anniversary. We hope you'll stop by, check out the show, and see what the artists in our community have been up to!

Things here have been rather busy as of late. Making new works and prepping for more new shows, which I can
now announce.

This Two Buck Tuesday, curated by Trina Merry, focuses on the little things that inspire us- silly, tragic, authentic.

Speaker Series:

Sandy Sanjurjo will do a walk-through talk about her feature “SeaSkin” Exhibition at KALEID Gallery.
“SeaSkin was born from the notion that we are, as humans, directly connected with our environment.
We are a part of the air we breathe, the earth we derive nourishment from and tread on, the water we
play in and consume.” http://sites.google.com/site/munioinkseaskin/

Kevin Powers
will talk about Inspiration, how it relates to the art making process, and tips on getting
re-inspired. He is an artist whom often uses photography, sculpture, and occasionally other methods
of expression, a professor, amateur cultural anthropologist, as well as a cinephile, bibliophile, and
Vespa enthusiast in his spare time. http://kevinpowers.org /

Element 151 Films, a local production company, will screen some of their music videos & share
why they’re here instead of LA. http://www.151films.com/151Films/ELEMENT_151.html

Demos & Performance Artists:

Khalilah Ramirez will share her “Dance of Peace”. “The purpose of the Dance of Peace is to help foster
peace in people’s hearts. It makes people smile. It makes dogs bark. It gets people talking to each other.
It turns the conversation towards peace. It is fun and silly. It takes people’s minds away from their
everyday worries.” www.thedanceofpeace.com

Daniel Gaines Photography will help artists whip their websites into shape by shooting web-ready jpgs
of artwork for only $2. Please limit to 5 works that are 36”x48” or smaller. http://danielgainescreative.com/

The Congregation Gallery Presents
"The Black Plague Art Show"

Curated by Cam Rackam

Opening Reception
Saturday July 24th, 2010
9pm-12pm

The Congregation Gallery | 7569 Melrose, Los Angeles CA 90046

The Black Death was the deadliest pandemic in human history. It has been estimated to have killed up to 60% of Europe's population
by 1400 ce. The Black Death created a series of religious, social and economic upheavals which had serious effects on the course of
human history, while also having a profound impact on art that still resonates today.

The artists participating in the Black Plague art show are beyond talented. The macabre nature of this particular show allowed these
individuals to not only showcase their abilities, but excel in a forum of like minded macabre painters, dark sculptors, and mixed media
assemblage artists. It's an art show where realists and surrealists conjure beauty from death.

"This is just the type of Art Show that L.A. deserves"

Participating artists:

Karl Persson, Christopher Conte, Carlos Rojas, Vincent Castiglia, Nikko Hurtado, Bruce D. Mitchell, William B. Hand, Larkin, Corey Urlacher,
Dan Harding, Carlos Torres, AXIS, Brandon Sallery, Chris Peters, Clint Carney, Skullmaster, Sean Chappell, Craig Edmunds, Jason Soles,

Summer's the perfect time for a little light-hearted levity, a little mischief. This year's show features a wide range of fun-filled nuttiness, everything
from toys gone bad to the Seven Deadly Sins (in glitter, of course). What happens if the video game character of your youth visits the San Francisco
of today, or a character from your favorite sci-fi series shows up on a surf board, or as a customized rubber duck?! A lovely group of animal portraits
and paintings of vintage toys rounds out the show. As usual, everything's under $400, with loads of items under $200. A list of participating artists is
